When to bring us in

Your customer requires an independent containment step before delivery.

Controlled Shipping Level 2, often written CSL2 or CS2, adds an independent containment checkpoint under the customer’s requirements. Pioneer supports the inspection and records at the agreed location. The customer’s written scope matters: the checks, reporting, material identification and exit conditions must be understood before the activity begins.

What the scope can include

  • Review of customer-defined containment criteria
  • Independent checks at the agreed containment point
  • Defect recording and segregation
  • Reporting to support corrective-action review

The evidence you can agree

Reporting is defined before the assignment. Depending on the scope, it can include:

  • Inspection results and defect records
  • Quantity and identification records
  • Agreed reporting at defined intervals
  • Inputs for your customer’s exit review

Review the customer instruction

Confirm the independent inspection scope, defect criteria and reporting requirements. Agree the working boundary with the supplier and responsible customer contact.

02 / Check

Operate the agreed checkpoint

Inspect and identify material at the agreed containment point. Record defects, segregate exceptions and maintain the quantity and traceability records specified for the assignment.

03 / Report

Support the review with records

Provide agreed inspection results at defined intervals. The customer or nominated approving authority determines whether its exit conditions have been met.

Common questions

Before you book.

Is a CSL2 assignment the same as routine final inspection?

No. Routine final inspection checks a defined release scope. CSL2 is an additional independent containment activity under customer-specific requirements. The customer’s instruction determines the relevant checks, reporting and review process.

Can you arrange CSL2 for an overseas customer’s Indian supplier?

Share the supplier location in India, the customer instruction, affected components and required timing. Pioneer will review the assignment and confirm the inspection resources and communication arrangements with the relevant contacts.

Can a successful inspection end controlled shipping automatically?

No. Acceptable results provide evidence for the review; they do not replace the customer’s approval. Exit criteria and the decision to end controlled shipping remain with the customer or its nominated authority.
